Counterfeit Armani?
The other day, while on a break from work ( i was buying some donuts from Krispy Kreme ). As I walk out with my glazed creme filled, and apple filled cinnamon roll donuts, this Italian guy in a rental car calls me over. He shows me his passport, his id, his paperwork for national car rental. He says he's got 6 coats. Right away, I realize, this guy wants to sell me some hot jackets.
Already skeptical, i’m enamored by his genuine italian accent and he tells that if he’s here for
“How you say, exhibition?”
and since he didn't sell these coats, his company is giving them to him. He doesn’t want the coats, of course. He wants to do me a favor and sell them. What a great guy, right? Yeah…
So he proceeds to show me these GREAT “Armani” leather and suede coats. One thing bothers me though. They don’t say armani anywhere. It’s more like A Collezioni.. It also says ‘made in italy’ all over the lining. So he tries for 500. I say 200. He says he’ll give me 3 for 200. I say cool. I’m thinking that I might be able to sell it on Ebay and make a profit. We travel to Bank of America to get some cash. I get the cash but somethings telling me not to do it. So I ask to see them again. I say,
why don’t you just put the coats in a suitcase?
Of course! He’d have to pay extra for that. I look at the coat one more time. It’s such a nice coat. Sigh. I say
“Why doesn’t it say armani?” His reply: “There are 5 armani collections. Georgio Armani, Emperio Armani, Armani Exchange, [some other armani] and Armani Collezioni” I say “But I haven’t HEARD of Armani Collezioni” He huffs and says, “Fine, then…..”
So I finally get back to work and come to find there IS an Armani Collezioni. That’s even the name of their main website. I still think the stuff was counterfeit though. Why wouldn’t Armani put their name on the label? And shouldn’t I be able to find these coats on the web site? I don’t know. I guess there’s a price that comes with dressing nice to go to work. People want to sell you armani coats out of their Pontiac Torrents…

HE JUST PASS FOUR OAKS IN NORTH CAROLINA HE GOT MI FRIEND AND DID THE LIGHTER THING HE GET SOME COATS FROM THE ITALIAN GUY, AND THEN I FOUND THIS SITE. .,.BECAUSE I DONT BELIEVE THEY ARE ARMANI.
The same situation happened to me.The guy will talk about Dolce&Gabanna but this is RDG Milano.The Jackets were nice so I paid 200 for all of them after bargain...If it happeen to you offer a much lower amount

Wel well our Italian slickster is currently in Mississauga. Just happened to me in front oft the Rockwood Mall in Mississauga on Dixie. He pulled up right next to me asking for direcrions to the airport.
He was smooth saying he was a model on assignment from Italy for Georgio Armani and would have to pay duty on these 4 leather jackets from the Georgio Armani Collezione going back to Italy after asking me how much i was willing to pay for them showing me the Canadian customs invoice valuing them at 436 dollars each. i offered him 200.00 and he countered 500. We settled for 300. i feel like a fool. Btw he did the lighter trick as well
He just passed through Dallas Texas....i got 3 for $150 cuz i told him "look most us Mexicans dont wear that crap"....But to be honest i think 150 for 3 wasnt too bad..
Same story outside of RBC bank in Mississauga Ontario, just outside of Toronto, Hertz rental car, lighter trick, Italian Accent, flight back to italy (total bs, still probably in Ontario) sold me 5 jackets for $300. Could not get his license plate. THIS GUY/THESE PEOPLE NEEDS TO GET CAUGHT CAUSE THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS, I WANT MY MONEY BACK

Well, it's 2011 and I just got scammed by these people. Same story of everyone else in here. Italian guy w a rental car, I assume NOW!. Fake passport, flight tickets, all that stuff. Got me w $200 for 4 Reporter R.D.G Milano Jackets, I do have to accept they don't look that bad though. I really like them and yeah he did the lighter trick with on of them, now I wanna try it with the rest of them to see if they are all leather, if they are then its not really a big of a scam just not a brand leather jacket but still they look nice. oh and by the way this happened in Kentucky.
We just got scammed in North Fort Worth, Same info as indicated above, 4 jackets for $200, lighter trick too. Also man claimed to be Italian & flight out tonight back to Italy. I told my husband no and he did it anyway. I wish that I would have gotten his lisence plate number. He was driving a white GMC suv.
I am from Cincinnati and was coming out home depot in Florence and he stopped by asking if there is a Italian store in the area and wants to sell some jackets and then he started saying that he doesn't have money to go back to Italy and he can get only $400 from his bank and needs $300 (to pay for car and gas) and he said the jacket costs about $900 each and would just sell it for $300 all 5 jackets. The leather jackets looked very good and I immediately called my wife to see if there RDG Milano brand and she searched and it was available in goodwill store and in ebay. I got suspicious and told him that my wife is not agreeing to the purchase. He showed his passport, rental car, even rolex watch (Probably fake) and definitely didn't know to speak good english. He seems to be a very good sales man. Watch out

But I give him only 62 dollars I am Hispanic so the guy try sale expensive , him show me some magazine with the jackets prices !!! Crazy 900 dollars for each!! HAHAAAAA I totally took the bait, I met up with a friend at Mcdonalds in Quincy,Wa and I saw him talking to a guy in a beautiful Ford Escape. He signals me over and the guy he was talking to had a very good italian accent because I understood close to nothing he was saying. He did the lighter trick showed us all his paperwork. He wanted 250 for 5 jackets, my friend gave 100 and i gave 150, i stayed with 3 and him with 2. The jackets are actually not bad, the ones that we got were better than the once we had boughten from JcPenny for 80+. Anyways the jackets are nice, its still a ripoff offer him less some of the jackets are not that bad.
well, same story here with my brother just about couple hours ago on Long Island in North Babylon, NY. a guy pulled up in a car telling the same story in italian accent and my brother fall for it. so, my brother was all excited for the deal he had 4 jackets $200. when he came home and gave me the jackets to try on and he is still very excited, so i decided to look up what is "Reporter R.D.G" when i discovered this blog i started LMAO and showed him this topic, for sure we did enjoy this and laughed about it and getting mug but at same time its ok we are four brother and we will still rock the jackets i don't care about the brand, the quality is decent. I feel bad who were really mug and i hope these get caught by cops.

OMG!! It's October 2nd, 2011 and I TOTALLY fell for his scam too... We got 4 jackets for $200... He told us he did a walk way in the Kennewick mall in WA. My husband was SOO right for wanting to walk away from the offer and I totally fell for the scam enough to convince my husband to buy them. I feel soo dumb now... Man if I would have only known about this just a day before, I could have gotten the boots I have dreamed of since for EVER :(

Got me yesterday 10/5/11 !!! here in Dallas Tx. Same story: Outside Target, close to the airport, had a rental car, showed me his passport and european money, Italian accent, said he just finished an exhibition sale at the Galleria and was headed home, used the lighter to demonstrate it was leather!! Got 4 jackets for $460. Brand says "reporter RDG Milano - Made in Italy" Really thought I had a good deal!!
Ditto, ditto. On Oct 11th, my sister called me from a parking lot downtown Montreal with this great "deal". Two italian guys, same MO. We ended paying $800 for six jacket. I feel so bad :(

The same thing just happened to my dad in Wenatchee, Washington. The guy even did the lighter thing and showed him a magazine of the 900$ retail price. He was Italian and tried to sell 4 leather coats that say "Reporter R.D.G. Milano" for 900$. My dad only had 150$ on him and gave him the money. my dad thought it was a good deal because we have a big family and we are very low on money! That PIECE OF SHI*! At least my dad is happy about it because he has a cool coat for him and he usually gets a cheap coat every 3 years. THIS IS FAKE! It's not a legit internet thing either. He used the lighter trick too. I wish I could have been there to call the cops!
today around 1:45 pm in CAPITOLA california this bald guy comes up to me as well with the same italian story and passport stuff etc. he seemed anxious . he wanted $1,700 for two suede jackets i told him i only had $30 on me . he took it and i even got his number not sure if its really his. im going to try it. hey but i jacked him..

I would've advised him not to buy them. thats crazy man.I just came online to google the brand to see if it was legit and its not! and a bunch of people are getting scammed. On Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, this same guy (or a good copy cat) in a white SUV parked right next to me in a parking lot in Orleans, Ontario.
He told me a story similar to the ones mentioned above. He came from a "Trade Show" at the Marriott Hotel in Ottawa, he said, and was heading for the airport to return to Italy.
I was dressed in my usual "drab" (jeans and sweater) I told him, I was not in the habit of dressing in fine leather coats. He told me, he picked me, because of my slight stature, and all the coats he had left were "small size".
He had 3 coats, ranging from well over $ 1000.00 down to $ 900.00. He offered me all three in total for the lowest price of $ 900.00.
I asked him, if he was serious and if he really thought I would give him $ 900.
He said "yes", but asked me then, how much I was willing to pay. "Nothing", I said, and started to turn around. He had this really sad look on his face, like "how could you turn down such an offer?"
When I thought about it, I asked myself the following questions:
- What is this guy doing in Orleans, some 20 km east of Ottawa, if he had a "Trade Show" at the Marriott and was returning to the Airport, which is located south-west of Ottawa?
- Did he really think I had $ 900.00 in cash in my pocket, just like that?
Later, I called the Marriott and asked, if they had had a trade show for coats over the weekend. Of course, they did not :-)
